April 21 Low Activity Day

I was slowed down a lot today, thanks to this cold I have been nursing for the past two days. When you don’t breathe well, your energy decreases quite a bit. Thus, today was a low activity day for me, while Patrise did a few things to not be stuck in the room all day. We had breakfast at the main dining area; first time we’ve done that. It was not a particularly satisfying meal, so I may be a while before we give it another try.

After breakfast, we separated to go to different activities. Patrise attended one of the trivia games going on throughout the day; I attended a lecture about the origins of the universe. My event was interrupted due to technical failures. The techs could not get the screens to display the lecturer’s slides, so he just took questions and tried to keep us generally entertained for 45 minutes.

Patrise and I ran into each other in the elevator lobby, while returning to our deck. At her urging, I laid down for some brief rest. Meanwhile, she waited until 11:45 then went to turn in our passports to the ship crew; afterwards, she went to get us some pizza slices for lunch. I awakened and we ate lunch.

After lunch, she went to another trivia game, while I stayed in the room mostly laying down. After her trivia game, she returned to the room. We sat up, side-by-side in the bed, reading our respective books. When the time drew close to 4:30, we went to the Concierge Lounge for afternoon snacks and beverages – again, continuing to read. We were there for an hour, but since my book was mostly reading me, we returned to the room. I lay down and napped for 1-1/2 hours. Patrise went out to participate in another trivia game and to do a little shopping.

She returned and an hour later, we went to dinner at a new restaurant, Silk. Interesting name, but the menu was a British themed tonight. We sat next to an Australian couple from Sydney – Gary and Carli. They are retired and are doing a lot of cruising this year. They said they have nine (9) more cruises lined up for the rest of this year. We like a good cruise, but cruising that much would drive both of us batty. After dinner, we wandered to the patisserie on board, bought a small pastry – the dessert at the dinner meal was very disappointing – and returned to the room, to settle in for the night.
