Day 28th, May 13, A Day in Concord, NH

Today was a great day in all aspects except for one. Doug has caught a cold and he felt miserable and lacked energy most of the day. Don’t worry, he does not have Covid-19, we picked up test kits at CVS, and both of our test results were negative. Since I was feeling ill yesterday (something upset my stomach), we started out with a healthy breakfast of oatmeal with assorted toppings, chopped apples, pecans, New Hampshire maple syrup, craisins, cinnamon, and nutmeg. We each prepared a bowl of oatmeal and had it our way, like you do at Burger King (have it your way that is, not oatmeal. LOL) We each enjoyed our respective concoction.

We went to yet another RV dealer, to finally get the leaking vent hood over the kitchen replaced. One thing is clear from our brief experiences with RV Repair Shops- all of them are incredibly busy. Most are booked for 3-4 weeks, sometimes months, in advance with repair appointments. We have been so blessed that when we needed something fixed to continue our journey that a trained repairman responded to our plea and slipped us in for repairs. Today, the second shop that we tried was a winner, and we were able to have the 15 minute repair completed. Thank you, Bill's RV Repair!! This work was done just in time for us to leave tomorrow morning on our way to Vermont.

Since we got a very late start on the day, we went right to lunch at a local eatery called the Weathervane. We had a delicious meal of seafood and drinks. I finally had my first lobster roll, while Doug had clam chowder and a grilled haddock sandwich. After lunch, we drove to Concord, which was only about 10 miles from our campground in Chichester, NH. Here are some photos of the route along the way.

We spent the rest of the afternoon visiting downtown Concord, NH. It is a lovely, quaint, small city, with low buildings and no skyscrapers in sight. Downtown is where the capitol building is located and several government buildings are located there as well. Below are some of the beautiful pictures that Doug took showing you how lovely the town is.

There were protesters gathered around the steps of the capitol building, who were about to hold a pro-choice rally.

Here are pictures of other state buildings adjacent to the Capitol, including the Legislative Building, the State Library and more.

The other two stops that we needed to make were to the drug store (I swear the older you get, the more frequent you travel to the drug store to get prescriptions refilled.) and the grocery store. The local chain big chain store in this area of the country is Hannaford’s. We shopped at one in Connecticut as well as here in New Hampshire.

Since we did not want to tax ourselves too much, we concluded our day early and headed back to the campground to walk around the area, have dinner, and settle in for the evening.

Seeing the Merrimack River one more time, as we return to the campsite.

We concluded the evening playing Scrabble, Wordle, and watched a little TV.

Tomorrow Vermont!!
