(NOTE: We are publishing May 14th's and May 15th's blog entries on May 16th. Unfortunately, our location for those two days did not have strong enough wifi to enable us to publish. So this entry and the next are "make-ups." )
Today we arrived in Vermont! The trip was only 2.5 hours away, because neither Vermont nor New Hampshire are very wide. We traveled on Hwy I-91 N and exited on State Hwy 25 before taking a series of winding roads up the foothills of the Green Mountains. Vermont literally means Green Mountain and its name is very appropriate for its mountainous, scenic beauty. Here are several photos -- Patrise was driving most of the day, so Doug took lots of photos of the journey and some small towns that we visited along the way.

We traveled to the Upper Valley of the Connecticut River and visited with our friends who own a home, guest house and a barn loft on 140 acres of land – altogether they constitute Chandlery Farm. They rent out the guest house and barn loft on AirBnB. Their home is a lovely, well decorated French country home with 3 bedrooms and 2-1/2 baths. It was like being in a luxurious bed and breakfast. Our room was on a separate side of the house, and it had its own bathroom attached. We loved the room and the spaciousness of our rooming accommodations. Below are some photos of the Chandlery Farm.

Patrise prepared a scrupulous meal for all of us of ground turkey spaghetti sauce, spaghetti squash and brocolini. She even made a cheesecake for dessert with mixed fresh berries. We continued to talk and visit with our friends until after 10 o’clock, when we turned in for the evening.
