Today, we had a short drive to our next stop, the KOA Holiday Campground near Bar Harbor, ME. However, rather than going straight to the camp, we had planned to go into Bar Harbor for lunch, then go to Acadia National Park, then we eventually made our way to the camp. We had heard about Bar Harbor through the years, but of course we had never seen it before. And Doug had for years wanted to visit Acadia National Park, the northernmost national park on the east coast.

Here are some photos of the Maine countryside on the drive to the Bar Harbor area:

We made our way into Bar Harbor and the crowds were thick. If finally dawned on us that this was the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. DUH!! We found a parking spot and walked to the Bar Harbor Inn for lunch on their outside terrace. Take a look...

(This couple are Georgia Tech fans. His two brothers went to Tech and their daughter just "got out" two years ago as a chemical engineering major. They knew we were affiliated with Tech, because I had on a Buzz hat and a Tech jacket.)

After lunch and seeing a lot of Bar Harbor, we headed to Acadia National Park. We used the lifetime National Parks Pass that the team from ARC had given to Doug as a retirement gift. We have used the pass 4 times on this trip up the east coast.

There were so many beautiful views in the park. Patrise drove so that Doug could take pictures, lots of pictures. We will show many of them here, but trust us, this is nowhere near the number we could show you. Because of the large number of pictures, we have not put captions for most of them.

After the visit to Acadia National Park, we headed to our campsite, the KOA Holiday Campground. We set up, had a wonderful, light dinner, got ice cream from the creamery across the road from our specific location, and took a short walk around our camp to the edge of the bay and back. Afterwards, we settled in for the evening, reading, updating the blog, and watching a bit of television on Patrise's cell phone ("The Resident," "My Feet Are Killing Me," and the Miami Heat-Boston Celtics basketball playoff game.)

Tomorrow, we head to Augusta, ME, the capitol of the state.

Wow! You had to get back into the US before you witnessed an auto accident? I love these photos.😃 And you finally met some Tech people.

Let me share with you what we did today: Auntie Pearl turned 90! Murray and Ro gave her a party! Michael was there.

So were many family members. She was radiant!

Hurry back. I want to see more of your excellent photography!
