Day 51, June 5, Quiet Time in Baltimore

Today was a rather quiet day. Having washed our laundry the day before, we had no major chores or tasks to complete. We took our time going about the morning, until it was time for church service. As we have for most of the trip, we watched our church's service, live on YouTube. Since it was the first Sunday of the month, this was also the Communion service. We appreciated being able to have a virtual connection to our church on this day. We took our own form of communion, when the minister and congregation took their's -- apple juice and bread (smile).

Afterwards, we set up our director's chairs and turned on the outside television, which was a first time for both. Patrise had ordered wonderful falafel platter lunches for both of us. Those were delivered to us in the RV camp, as we watched tv. We were eating these wonderful lunches, enjoying the balmy outside weather, and watching Martha Stewart talking about the tulip industry in the Netherlands. It is a lot more complex and more sophisticated than I had ever imagined; and it is a multibillion dollar industry to boot.

Later, we collected ourselves and headed into Baltimore to have dinner with our grandchildren. First, we made two stops in Glen Burnie (south of Baltimore) to take care of some personal business at a FedEx and to go to a Best Buy for some needed electronic gear.

We met our grandchildren at a restaurant called Luna del Sea Steak & Seafood bistro. David had ridden with us to Baltimore from New York. However, it was the first time in a long while seeing his older sister, our granddaughter Lael. Lael is now a mother with a 14-month old daughter of her own. Royal Isabella is our first (and to date only) great grandchild. She is a beautiful, inquisitive, baby and she loves her mother, her father, Isaiah and her Uncle David. Royal absolutely loves her great grandmother. She frequently asked to go to Patrise and be held by her. However, she has not developed a fondness for being held by her great grandfather yet. Oh well, all things in time.

(Royal munches on one of her father's French fries. She generously shared some with him too. LOL)

After the dinner and catching up with our grandchildren and great granddaughter, we departed and made our way back to the camp for the evening. Tomorrow, we will head to the Richmond, VA area after an off the beaten path stop to visit Mt. Vernon, George Washington's home and estate.
