Day 0, April 15, On the road again!

Well, today was RV pick-up and load up day. Mostly load up. We picked up the vehicle in Dacula, and we had a one-hour orientation given by the owner, Ken Smith. He did a thorough job. He seemed to care about his renters. When we were searching for RV's to rent -- RVShare.com is similar to Air BnB, it matches RV owners with potential renters -- and Ken's site had lots of great reviews and testimonials. He and his family got so hooked on RVing that they purchased three different size vehicles: different sizes for different types of trips. When they are not using them, Ken rents them.

Getting from Dacula back to Southwest Atlanta was a bit frustrating, as there was an accident on southbound I-85 right at Pleasant Hill Road exit, just a brief 4-5 miles into a 36 mile journey. We eventually got past it, almost 45 minutes later. Then the actual drive itself was a learning experience for me. Adjusting to the steering of the larger vehicle, calming my nerves every time an 18-wheeler barrels by so close I think I could reach out the window and touch it, and adjusting to the longer stopping distances and slower acceleration. I am really going to get to love this vehicle over the next 60+ days, but it's not quite my Phoenix, my Ford Mustang Mach-E.

At any rate, we loaded our clothes. Tomorrow morning, we will load food, toiletries, books, and other such items. Then we will take off. Our first two stops for tomorrow will be the Tellus museum and the Booth Western Art museum. After that, we will take a leisurely drive to the Cohutta Wilderness, a part of the Chattahoochee National Forest, near Chatsworth, GA. We will spend two days there, then on to the next leg. However that is a story for another day.
